We recently did a post on tips for a coast wedding titled, Beach Wedding Tips.

If you haven’t read it yet, it talks about Guests and Weather. We are now delighted to continue on with more helpful advice and we sincerely hope to help make your special day as wonderful as can be! Today we will be focussing on, LOCATION.

Just to recap, choosing to celebrate your love with a coast wedding is one of the best decisions we’ve seen couples make. And its not because we specialise in weddings on the beach, but we’ve seen how flexible it is in accommodating guests and how it really suits those who are care-free and enjoy life’s many natural gifts, like the waves crashing against smooth silky sand.

Luckily for us, our venue is located on the Sunshine coast and our particular location is very quiet indeed!

Location, Location, Location

Find a beach that is quiet with minimal public traffic. This may seem like a no-brainer but you’d be surprised how many times this simple aspect is overlooked. Even if a beach may seem secluded, take note of what time you’ve come to recon. Many locations like on the Gold Coast get loads of residential traffic such as people walking their dogs and jogging after work.

Luckily for us, our venue is located on the Sunshine coast and our particular location is very quiet indeed! While we may not get as many tourists as the Gold Coast, this also means you get the private beach treatment for your coast wedding.

Authorities can also be a huge road block to your dream wedding. But our wedding coordinator can sort out all the paperwork for you and get the council approval that you need if you wish to conduct it on a particular location outside the Surf Air grounds. Another great thing about holding your wedding with us is that we have wheelchair access to all spots and all the necessary tools to help with family and friends who are disabled.

What bride isn’t enthusiastic about her own wedding day? There’s just so much involved in planning ideas for your wedding and so much to think about.

What colour combinations go with the decor of the venue and can that particular venue even accommodate over 50 seated guests? (Psst… Surf Air can). This is when planning your wedding starts to become nerve-wracking and ceases to be fun. But it doesn’t have to be this way.

Our in-house wedding coordinators are highly experienced in taking loads of stress off brides to be, but rather than taking all the fun in the process, they would rather be seen as collaborators. Like an extension of your limbs or a modern-day fairy god mother. Hehe, seriously though, they are 100% dedicated to help, which is why we’ve started another blog column called: Planning ideas for my wedding, and today, we’re talking about popular online pin board called Pinterest.

If you haven’t heard already, Pinterest is a way for people to visually sort out their interests, online. This was the first initial purpose but it turns out that this new social network can be used for much more, in our case, repeat after me, “planning ideas for my wedding” Good, you’re getting the hang of it now!

What makes it so versatile is that you can easily categorise and edit various boards. So you can have individual sections for different aspects of your wedding day. For instance, you can have a board where you pin wedding dress ideas, another board for wedding cakes you found on browsing the net and even a whole collage of existing weddings that inspire you. You can look at it as your online bookmarker!

In addition, you can control who sees your pin boards. You can even bring other members in to collaborate with you or make comments. This takes us back to our previous comment of the Surf Air wedding coordinators collaborating with you. We have just created the official Surf Air Pinterest profile so we’re getting the hang of it. Why don’t you come and join us and we can begin by bouncing ideas off each other. Even if you’re not getting married, its a great social network to keep a track of the things you love.

As we all make preparations to celebrate motherhood, Surf Air would like to offer a compilation of poems for mothers.

To honour their strength, compassion and influence in all cultures and religions, we’ve decided to put together some of the most beautiful poems for mothers we’ve come across this past week.

We also would like to take this opportunity to remind each other of the important role mothers have at weddings. They have supported you throughout all your life and given you advice as well as be your moral compass to help you be a better person. While they hate to let you go, they would dread the idea of not letting you grow, and become a mother too. And for the boys out there, to become life-long companions and share the love as fathers. Its a cycle that we have all participated in, and it doesn’t matter what country, culture or religion you are, the circle of life begins when a woman becomes a mother.

Beach weddings has become the most popular choice for many newly weds this year. Its romantic, photogenic and a cost effective alternative to your typical and often times, restrictive hall venues. Just imagine, the sound of the sea waves crashing on the shore, carried by the cool breeze, lightly sprinkled with salt. It’s the epitome of a great Australian wedding! The good news is that such a dream is very much attainable.

Many young couples are also opting for weddings by the beach because the old fantasy of island weddings are actually very hard to organise remotely. Often times there’s double the paperwork involved compared to a standard wedding in Australia. Besides, ceremonies held near any water feature has awesome Feng Shui advantages!

Guests

A flexible venue helps you in so many different ways. In regards to arbitrary guest numbers and max capacity seating arrangements, there’s nothing better than holding a wedding at the beach. Oh, your annoying cousins from Adelaide decided to come? No problem, just bring in more chairs! Oh no, we’ve got 50 more people than expected! No worries, look around you, there are no walls to dictate how many guests you can fit. But this does raise the issue of you versus mother nature.

Weather

Embracing the elements is a very brave thing to do, but luckily for you, SurfAir Marcoola is located on the Sunshine Coast of Queensland, and they don’t call it Sunshine for nothing. However, there are other environmental factors besides the rain that you should consider when planning a wedding on the beach. First of all, its windy, and this means a tent or any sort of under-covered area may end up 50-metres in either direction… and we can only speculate the behaviour of the bride’s dress! But you shouldn’t see this as a downside. This means you can be more creative with your options. Rather than a traditional gazebo you could opt for a pinned down giant teepee or perhaps even nothing at all! Oh, and be sure to tide into consideration if you plan on having it on the sand, or you’ll end up like these guys (see pic).
